Dear Friend,

I have recently been elected to the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame and as you may know the Induction Ceremony is Saturday March 23.  In conjunction with this event have come a series of interviews and requests for information relating to my time in the ski business.  Of the dozen or so of these interviews, there has been one recurring question - What is it that you are most proud of in skiing?   My answer was not what I built or what I changed.  It was not money or resorts I accumulated.  And, it was not any of the deals or things I was right about, but too early with.  I am proud of all those things.

What I am most proud of is co-founding Maine Adaptive Sports and Recreation 42 years ago.  During that time Maine Adaptive has never charged a dime to provide recreational access to anyone with a special need.  From a child with CP to a Vet in a chair, all our services for the thousands of participants hosted have come without a price tag.

Today I am asking you to support my participation in this year’s annual Ski-A-Thon by donating to me and my team. This year is especially poignant as it is the 10th anniversary of the passing of my co-founder, Chip Crothers.  And, as the Ski-A-Thon happens, I will be in Park City being inducted into the Hall and answering that question - I am proud of all that I did for skiing, but what I am most proud of is what I did for Maine Adaptive and all of its students, volunteers and staff.

Will you please join me in supporting this year’s event by giving generously.

Most sincerely,

Les

P.S.  I am giving $10,000.00.
