This is my second year volunteering with Maine Adaptive and it continues to be one of the most rewarding activities I've ever done. The staff and volunteers are a dedicated and passionate group of folks that make the organization run and the participants are amazing.
From the web page, the group's mission is: Maine Adaptive Sports & Recreation promotes year-round education and training for individuals with disabilities in order to develop skills, enhance independence, and provide enjoyment through active recreation. No doubt, for all of us, it's fun. However, for many of the participants, it means much more. For some, it's a game changer that gives them newfound confidence in their abilities to live life to it's fullest. Ski equipment is expensive, but adaptive equipment, critical to what we do, is crazy expensive. The Ski-a-thon is the groups main fundraiser. Please consider helping with a donation.
